I did another three miles tonight. This time, I went to one of the local schools that has an all-weather track to run. I wanted to run on a surface that would be a little kinder to my joints.
There was one other runner and two walkers there when I arrived after 6 p.m. I thought it would be nice to have some company for once. Unfortunately, they all left before I got even 1/2 a mile into my run. Oh well.
It is amazing what a flat track with a good cushion can do for my running!! My right hamstring was a little tight tonight, but overall I am getting much faster on my three-milers. This is the first time (I think) that every mile I did was under 12 minutes. Very encouraging!! I recorded yet another PB for the three-mile distance. I can't wait until I can run it in under 30 minutes. For the first time I am able to envision that happening in my running future. Maybe because I've already cut more than three minutes from my time since late January.
Saturday is my long run. I think I will only do five miles this time and work up a little more slowly than I have been. I have LOTS of time to train for the HM in October, so I don't want to rush anything.
Today's stats:
Distance: three miles
Time: 33:54 (previous best was 34:23, set on Tuesday)
Pace: 11:17 minute/mile
Splits:
Mile 1: 11:03
Mile 2: 11:33
Mile 3: 11:14 (not a single 12-minute mile in sight!!! Yes!!)

Great job Michelle! We have a track too, but I think it still has snow on it :p I'll have to do a drive by and check on it.
I used to run track and field for years(my dad was a coach to Terry Fox pre cancer...so a long time ) It has been years since I have run on a track!
I bet that cushioning was nice:)
Good job on the 11 each!
Speedy!!!! Great job!
I may hit the track for some runs, once I'm able to run again - I think the cushioning would be a nice break once in a while.
I just love running on tracks!
No sense rushing your training; however, you need to be slowly building up your distance. Perhaps adding 1 mile everyone other week to your long run.
WOOHOO!! Very nice!
