For some reason, this month has been a tough one for me regarding my running. I have been much busier with school and all, but my overall motivation for running has taken a dive. I mean, I am very glad after I do it, but it's a little harder mentally to get it done. I hope I'm just having an off month, you know?
But I did run today at the track. Only three miles. Even though mentally it was tough, I still set a new PR for that distance. I have no idea how I did it, but I think the fact Tim and the kids were there with me made me run faster. Tim was really hungry and I knew it, so I guess I felt I had to get done faster so he could get something to eat. LOL.
Tomorrow's a preschool day for Kara, so I might take advantage of her being gone and do a couple miles on the treadmill. If I can get Matty to go back to sleep, that is. If not, I will probably strap him into the stroller and do an outdoor run. I just hope the motivation doesn't wear off before morning. Guess I'll go to bed soon so I can at least get some sleep and feel rested. I haven't had a good night's sleep all week. Maybe that's why my motivation is in the crapper.

Well, that's a great run for low motivation. I've always heard the hardest step for a runner is the first one out your front door. I hope you get out the door tomorrow. After that, you will be fine!!
That's the time to start mixing it up. Run at new places. Do some different kinds of runs. Run without any time or distance constraints. Enjoy life :-)
Food is definitely a great motivator. I know it motivates me plenty. Nice job getting it in.
I have had a bit of trouble keeping focused on the training with school taxing my brain. I agree with Wes that mixing it up is the key. Maybe even try downloading some new songs!
Dude, get some sleep. That will certainly drag you down. The combined stresses imposed on you right now will manifest in lots of ways, including performance and motivation.
That said, great job on the track. 3 miles on the oval is only slightly less frustrating than the dreadmill, and you pulled a great last mile to boot!
Oh boy. I can so relate to this post... except for the PR on the 3 mile.
Everyone has running downs... it comes and goes! Good luck getting through your motivational issues. Taking a break never killed anyone, the need for running will come back miraculously too ;-)
Wow, thats quite impressive. 3 miles, negative splits, and ON a TRACK. Crazy... I don't know about others, but I hate just running on a track - I would have to be doing track repeats, speedwork to do that, and you pulled it off nicely!
You know, we all get in (what I'd like to call) running funk. I'm there and have been for quite sometime. But, I will be on the road for the first time in a while this week just going for a run. No pressure.
You have a lot on you and are accomplishing it all well.
I'm sorry to hear about the motivation issues. I know we have all been there!
