I was so planning on running my second HM in October, but I don't think it's going to become a reality.
There are many reasons. One is that I haven't been able to do many long runs this summer, and I don't feel prepared. Also, school is a big thing on my mind (and more important right now). And I just can't see myself spending $50 right now on a race.
There are a couple small club runs I am considering instead. I think that will keep me happy.

I used the elliptical tonight. It marked my first workout in more than a week. It felt pretty good. I also did push ups. I backed down to Week 4 of the 100 PUP, since I was sick all last week. I will eventually get through this darn thing!!

Plus the fact that you've been sick most of the summer. I think you made a good decision, you won't enjoy the race as much if you do it unprepared (believe me!)
I think it's a good idea to focus on school right now. You're doing so well, no reason to throw training into the mix.
I think fall races are tough...just because of the training required during the summer months. I think it's a smart move...save your training energy for something else down the road.
Sorry you aren't ready for it but I understand and think it is a good choice, school is A LOT of work.
